Should I learn automatic or manual?

Most students tend to learn with the transmission that their most comfortable with and the transmission they have access to at home. Practising and accruing logbook hours will obviously be considerably easier if you have access to the transmission you are learning on. A manual driver’s licence however will allow you to legally drive with either transmission. We have many students who were nervous about a manual transmission, found their feet in an automatic and swapped over to a manual. No stress, we will guide you in your choice.

What do I need to bring to a driving lesson?

All you need is a valid Australian learner’s permit or another valid driver’s licence, your log book and a willingness to learn and have fun.

How do I get a learner’s permit?

Step 1:  Know your road rules.  Don’t stress though, Your Keys To Drive Book is available at the TMR (Dept of Transport & Main Roads) for a small fee. Once you know your road rules head on over to the TMR driver licensing and issuing centre and sit a short written exam. It’s only 30 questions, and costs $22.50.

Can I get driving lessons outside of normal business hours?

We understand people have busy lives and schedules,  we will work with you to ensure your lessons fit in with your lifestyle.

Do you do driving lessons in my area?

If you live in Alice Springs sorry but no, but if you live on the Sunshine Coast I think we can help. See below for a full list of schools and suburbs we service. If you live slightly outside these areas or can’t find your location on the list give us a call, we’ll try our best to help.

How do I book my driving test?

Book your practical test at the Qld government’s website www.tmr.qld.gov.au/Licensing. Once you’ve booked and paid for a test slot, talk to your driver trainer about preparing for your test.  if you need to use a Social Driving School car on the day of your test, make sure you arrange that with us as well.

Can I use your car for the test?

Yes. If you need to use a Social Driving School car for your test, you can book it in with your instructor. Our experience has shown that having a lesson just before sitting your test will help calm any nerves boost confidence before sitting your practical test.
